All of our beef comes from 100% grass fed and free-range pastured cows. No growth hormones or antibiotics are used and organic practices are followed. Knowing the farmer and how the animals are raised is more important to us than organic certification.*
All chickens are free-range and forage in pastureland in warm weather, and are supplemented with non-GMO feed during the winter months.
All pork comes from heritage breed animals, raised free-range and supplemented with non-GMO feed.
All prepared items (e.g., sausage, bacon) are free of preservatives, MSG, and added nitrates (aside from those naturally present in celery). Prepared items have zero- to minimally-added natural sugar: for example, bacon and sweet breakfast sausage has approximately 1 gram of sugar per pound.
*Attaining USDA Organic certification is an expensive multi-year process, adding much cost and burden to small producers, without necessarily fully informing the consumer about the product’s inputs or if neighboring fields are contaminating. It’s our view that knowing the local farmer and understanding first-hand how he or she operates is most informative and cost-effective.
